@eyemla Thanks for taking your time and summarizing what his mom said. I’ve just got to know about Ji Sung after the World Cup and since soccer isn’t as popular in the states as worldwide I was glad to watch him as captain of the national footall team 2010 and learn about his achievements. I wish someone sub this because his story is really inspiring. Again thank you.

@maisheng33 She’s saying that even though the world looks at her son and thinks he has a glamorous career, she knows all the hardships and trials he had to go through and as a mother can’t help wishing that he had just led a simple life. All Ji Sung has known since childhood is soccer and she just wants him to have friends and hang out and relax- that is a mother’s wish and heart for her child.

He truly is an inspiration. How can someone continue when the whole world is booing you like that when you’re doing the one thing you love most? I would surely run away, scared, maybe even forever. He is truly an amazing person, as a whole. So inspiring!

True. Score a winning goal and you’re the new fan favourite, but mess up in your next match and you’re the scapegoat. Newcomers (especially foreigners) are easy prey since they first have to do brilliant to win over the fans, and are readily blamed for any mistakes made in a match until they win people’s approval.
Luckily, Park stuck it out and more than proved his worth to us here in the Netherlands. He’s such a nice, down-to-earth guy.

He also says it was a bit weird how before, all the PSV fans would boo him and not support him but following his sudden rise from a career slump and knee surgery, they started to support and sing songs in praise of him. It was like the moment he started scoring for PSV, the thousands of fans just turned a blind eye to what they had done previously. But he still felt that it was a great experience and that it ultimately strengthened him.. towards success, fitness and even Man Utd.

He was injured on his knees… thus, could not play well. So, everytime he stepped out on the field, he was boo’d. The boo’ing was so loud, that it was sometimes more distinct when comapring to boo’ing against the opponent. It was the first time, he was afraid to receive the ball. He was afraid to step outside his home… But later he recovered. Then, the fans made even songs for him in Netherland.

he wasn’t boo’ed because he’s korean. it’s because he was injured and couldn’t play well.
